In this day of technology and information overload, those with attention deficit disorder (ADD) may suffer with impulsivity and attention impairments. Even individuals without a formal diagnosis may find it challenging to focus for prolonged periods of time.

Pomodoro Method:

 Francesco Cirillo created the Pomodoro technique in the 1980s as a way to manage time by dividing work into intervals of time, usually lasting 25 minutes, and interspersing them with brief breaks. Set a timer for 25 minutes (or less if necessary) and take a 5-minute break after finishing a task if you want to concentrate on studying or doing something creative. This technique progressively sharpens your concentration and stimulates your creativity. It’s quite helpful for new users.

Meditation:

There are several advantages to meditation, such as improved focus, attention, and cognitive function. Studies have indicated that 47% of our time is devoted to different kinds of pondering and overanalyzing things. Through the development of brain regions linked to focus, memory, and learning, such as the hippocampus and prefrontal cortex, mindfulness meditation can help you develop your attention muscle. Studies have also indicated that meditation helps increase focus and maintains the brain young (1).

Reduce Stimulation:

High or low levels of stimulus might impair cognitive function. We live in a technologically advanced world where information and the internet are constantly stimulating our senses. Our brains may be affected by these intense levels of stimulation, making it harder for us to concentrate. Our creativity is disrupted by the endless notifications we receive from social media, news, and other media sources. The secret is to reduce stimulus as much as you can, since this will help you become more creative and develop your attention span.

Be careful of brain fog:

A lot of people suffer from brain fog without even recognizing it. Clouded thinking is a hallmark of brain fog, which makes it challenging to focus and concentrate. Brain fog can be exacerbated by poor eating habits, erratic sleep patterns, stress, and even addictive behaviors. Issues with the nose and ears may also be to blame. Brain fog can be lessened by altering your diet, getting enough rest, utilizing essential oils like menthol and lavender oil, and practicing relaxation techniques.
